The Passing of a great man, Chuck Hart
You may not have known his name. You may not
have known him outside the Woodstock Badminton Club. You may not have even been
on the court with him at the Club but one thing is for sure...you knew his smile
and his laugh. It is with great sadness that the Woodstock Badminton Club
acknowledges the passing of one of its own, Chuck
Hart: lifetime legend and member who recently passed
away before his time at the age of 47.
Chuck was one of those guys who exhibited qualities of
leadership and sportsmanship from an early age. If you were fortunate enough to
know Chuck, you knew that he never turned you down for a
game regardless of your skill level and he never played with you above your
skill level. He was the consummate gentleman and an excellent ambassador for
the game of badminton. This was not a mistake. Chuck
was the third son born to Mollie and Gerry Hart - both
longtime members of the Woodstock Badminton Club. By the time
Chuck came along they were pros at raising sons and raising badminton
players. And it showed. Chuck was a natural athlete
and not just at badminton. He excelled at any sport he tried.
Over the years Chuck held just about every Board
position there was to hold at the Club - again showing his commitment and his
willingness to give of himself. Those who knew him were never surprised. Need
an extra player to come to the club? Chuck was there.
Need an extra golfer to come play at Ladies Night with his sister Wendy?
Chuck was there. He never stopped giving of himself and
caring for others. It was his mantra and shall be his legacy.
The Board and membership of the Woodstock Badminton Club are deeply saddened by
the loss of this great man and our hearts and prayers go out to all members of
his family. However, we also feel extremely lucky to have had
Chuck in our lives as a leading example of what we could aspire to be.
Thank you Chuck. You will be missed.
